South Vietnam 720th Company “B” Military Police Battalion
We call ourselves professionals storytellers. This is a sample of using pictures, video, graphics and narration to tell a story. The U.S. Armed Forces stationed in Southeast Asia needed a Special Mission Duty Group. For this, they chose the 18th Military Police Brigade, the largest and only combat tested Military Police Brigade in the Corps’ history. The 720th MP Battalion was chosen and Company B was given its own tactical area of responsibility, a 20-square kilometer area guarding Long Binh Post, the largest military installation in South Vietnam. History was made as this was and is the only time that a Company of MP’s was used for search and reconnaissance. Company B’s training included infantry skills that were put to use on a daily basis. Along with ground forces of MP’s, they were given the use of River Patrol Boats that were usually run by the Navy but were in this instance, the charge of Army MP’s. From 1967 to 1970, the boys of Company B, most who were barely 18 years of age, made history and brought pride to the MP Corps. They were instrumental in the safety of Long Binh Post and the river and waterways that brought arms and supplies to all of our Forces. This presentation is a salute to those boys who quickly became the proud men of the 720th Company “B” Military Police Battalion. Contact us if you would like the full length version on DVD.
